PARTNERS & FUNDERS

Forty students share one bench.
We give each of them their own.

Across Sub-Saharan secondary education, practical science is taught by demonstration because the benches, the reagents and the rota don't stretch to a class of forty. Sayansia is a browser laboratory where students make mistakes and solve real exam practicals, marked against the published examiner scheme — turning passive observers into candidates who have actually done the thing.

THE COUNTERFACTUAL

What changes, and what happens if nothing does

WITHOUT SAYANSIA

  • Forty-plus students watch one teacher demonstrate at the front.
  • Apparatus is handled by whoever gets to the bench, which is not most of them.
  • Reagents and glassware are consumed whether the practical lands or not, so it runs once.
  • A mistake is something to be avoided in front of the class, not something to learn from.

WITH SAYANSIA

  • Every student gets a bench of their own, on whatever device they already have.
  • They select the apparatus themselves — including the wrong apparatus, which is explained.
  • The same practical runs again tonight, and again tomorrow, at no marginal cost.
  • Work is marked against the published examiner scheme, mark point by mark point.

THEORY OF CHANGE

Because practical science is constrained by overcrowded labs and reagent shortages, we work across East Africa to help secondary STEM students master hands-on exam competencies — by delivering mistake-friendly, mark-scheme-aligned browser simulations.

The long-term goal is a million students reaching STEM exam mastery by 2030. That is an intention, and we state it as one.

HOW WE'LL MEASURE IT

Three measures, and no numbers yet

Sayansia is pre-pilot. These are the measures we will report against — not results we are claiming. When the first cohort produces figures, they get published here with their baseline, whatever they show.

Access

Student bench-hours logged per term.

Every run is already recorded against a student and an experiment, so this is counted rather than estimated.

Competency

Change in practical paper scores, baseline against post-simulation.

Marked against the published examiner mark scheme. Where a mark needs the supervisor's own readings, it is excluded rather than guessed.

Cost efficiency

Cost per practical trial, against the same practical run physically.

Compared per school using that school's own consumables budget, not a sector average we can't verify.

BOUNDARY CONDITIONS

What a partner can get, and what nobody gets

Stated here rather than discovered in a term sheet. The second column is the shorter conversation, so it goes first in every call we take.

CAN GET

  • Co-branded institutional portals for subsidised school cohorts
  • Custom impact dashboards and learning analytics
  • Syllabus alignment work for regional curricula
  • Board observer seats for lead anchor funders

CANNOT GET

  • Proprietary IP ownership or source-code forks
  • Exclusive territorial monopolies that lock out other schools
  • Dilution of the built-to-fail pedagogy or the mark schemes
  • Any commercialisation of student data

WHERE FUNDING GOES

Three tickets, each with a deliverable attached

Pilot deployment across ten under-resourced public secondary schools.

  • 500 students onboarded
  • Baseline and post-test practical competency report
  • Published write-up, whatever it shows

Regional scale

$100,000

Content translation, offline-first optimisation for low-bandwidth schools, and teacher training workshops.

  • 5,000 students across 50 schools
  • Regional practical examination impact study
  • Teacher training materials, openly licensed

Pan-African acceleration

$250,000

Integration with national examination boards, and an automated mark-scheme engine for the papers we can't yet mark end to end.

  • 25,000 students onboarded
  • Policy integration work with national ICT-in-education programmes
  • Independent third-party evaluation

THE COMMERCIAL TRACK

Grant funding subsidises schools that can't pay. The ones that can, do.

Sayansia sells directly to schools at a published per-student price, which is what keeps it running between grants. Volume licensing for school networks, and bundled licensing for hardware and telecom partners, are quoted on request.

SCHOOLS WITH THEIR OWN LAB

$150

per student · per year

The whole virtual bench and every past paper, for schools that already have benches and technicians of their own.

Run the bench before you read the deck.

The titration is open with no account needed. Ninety seconds on it tells you more than any slide we could send.
